Fact Check: “the Jews own everything”

This is a very big claim to make, something often claimed by either conspiracy theorists or far-right people. Usually, claiming that the Jews are a tiny proportion of the population yet they control many big things such as news outlets, social media networks, and other things.

While it is interesting that there is an unexpected amount of Jewish people who own big things despite making up less than 1% of the population, but it could possibly be due to the fact that Jews are the most educated religious group.

Jews like to look after one another. So if a Jewish person started a company, and it got big, it’s not odd for him/her to hire Jewish CEOs. However, not all Jewish people are rich. Just like any other religious or ethnic group, there is poor and rich. Only 1.7% of millionaires are Jewish ─ however, in the U.S., the top two richest religious groups are Jews and Hindus.

21.2% of the Israeli population lives in poverty. 16% to 20% of American Jewish households earn less than $30,000, and 7% earn less than $15,000.
