Africa, the world’s second-largest and second-most populous continent. With a surface area of ~30 million km², it covers 6% of Earth’s total surface area and 20% of its land area and has the population of 1.3 billion people, which is ~16% of the world’s human population.

Common Misconceptions About Africa

It’s full of starving children

While that is true for some parts in the south of Sahara and Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Niger, but it is not true for the rest of the other 50 other countries in Africa.

Just like any other continent, there are parts of Africa that are under-developed and there are parts that are not under-developed. Africa has almost everything the rest of the world does have.

Africa has the most amount of countries than any other continent (54 countries according to the UN).

Africans have different skin pigments and different shades of black for the different tribes and different regions around the continent such as North Africa and South Africa. For example, South Africa is also called the Rainbow Nation because of the diversity it is known for when it comes to matters of skin color.
